Panel Discussion: Take Care

Thur. October 15th, 2020 – 12:00 PM – 12:00 PM

As part of the University of Chicago’s Homecoming celebration, please join us for a virtual sneak peek into the Smart Museum’s exhibition Take Care.

Take Care seeks to unpack matters of care from the personal to the collective. The artworks on view range from portrayals of familial relations and societal obligations, to gestures of hospitality and ritual, strategies of bearing witness and evoking empathy, and explorations of networks of care and the results of their absences.

The panel discussion features Brian Callender (Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Chicago Medical Center) and Andrea Yarbrough (founder of in c/o Black women), who will discuss their own ideas around the forms and effects of care as well as their contributions to Take Care. The panel is moderated by Aneesah Ettress, Curatorial and Academic Engagement Graduate Intern at the Smart Museum.

FREE, open to all.

Presented in collaboration with UChicago’s 2020 Digital Homecoming Week.
