Smart Family Programs

Family programs at the Smart Museum of Art invite kids of all ages and families of all kinds to create together and connect with one another. Each program is unique, fun, and free, emphasizing self-expression, experimentation, and hands-on creativity.

Family Day is a free monthly program featuring hands-on art activities inspired by work from the current exhibitions. Families are encouraged to explore the galleries, gather inspiration, and create a unique art project together. Many Family Days feature collaborations with local artists, guest performers, and both university and community organizations, celebrating the many ways art can foster connection. Art-making supplies and other materials are provided!

Specialty family programs are offered seasonally and provide additional opportunities for families to engage with the museum throughout the year. Offerings range from story times, scavenger hunts, guided family tours, and special performances, allowing families to connect with art through interactive experiences.

SmartKids activity cards feature a series of engaging, family-friendly independent activities designed to elevate everyday visits to the museum. Available activities include viewfinders, sketching prompts, art finds & more. Families can stop by the front desk during their next visit to request activity cards before exploring the galleries together.
