Published in conjunction with the exhibition Smart Collecting, the full-color volume is an up-to-date and essential reference to the collection of one of the nation’s most innovative university art museums. An essay by Dana Feitler Director Kimerly Rorschach charts the growth and strengths of the Smart’s collection as they relate to the institution’s teaching mission. Smart Collecting also provides detailed documentation of all acquisitions made between 1990 and 2004, and features over fifty objects entries highlighting important additions in areas such as print and photographic art, German expressionism, East Asian art, and contemporary art.
