The Feitler Center

Academic Inquiry at the Smart Museum of Art

The Feitler Center for Academic Inquiry supports deep engagement with the Smart Museum’s collections and exhibitions by integrating art into teaching, developing curricular exhibitions, and creating distinctive learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

The Center also strengthens connections across disciplines, encouraging students and faculty to study and experience art as a catalyst for interdisciplinary scholarship, critical inquiry, and the University’s commitment to free and open discourse.

The Feitler Center was established in 2018 and is named for Joan and Robert Feitler in recognition of a $5 million gift and decades of service to the University and the arts.
