Art to Live With Acquisitions Committee

Creative and social programs

The Art to Live With Acquisitions Committee is a group of students that act as the voice of the student body at the Smart Museum.

The Art to Live With Acquisitions Committee works to expand the Art to Live With Collection through student-led acquisitions. This program aims to empower students while enhancing their appreciation of art through direct engagement with the Smart’s curatorial practices. We introduce students to various artists and art practices, allowing their choices to shape the collection.

The committee provides students an opportunity to explore different art topics which link their academic experiences to the broader art world. Students are encouraged to make meaningful decisions during the acquisitions process while learning how to communicate with artists, examine institutional/gallery artist representation, and gain insights intomuseum operations. Furthermore, the committee champions student voices at the Smart Museum and directly influences the Art to Live With Program and Collection.
