not all realisms: Booklet Launch and Roundtable Discussion

Celebrate the launch of the companion booklet to not all realisms during this roundtable discussion that foregrounds the essays and contributions of UChicago faculty.

Join faculty writers Adom Getachew, Emily Lynn Osborn, Kathryn Takabvirwa, and Natacha Nsabimana in conversation with guest curator Leslie M. Wilson. The discussion will touch on the work of Ernest Cole and Sam Nhlengethwa, decolonization and the struggle for national independence in West Africa, transformation, and an expansive yet diverse body of photography.

The evening begins with a semi-directed close looking exercise in not all realisms, followed by the roundtable discussion  and open Q&A. After the discussion, enjoy light refreshments in the Smart Museum of Art's reception hall.
