Building on historical Smart programs such as “object chats,” Objects and Voices, and “object roundtables,” Conversation Pieces is a series that invites UChicago scholars and their surprise guests to enter into dialogue with artworks in The 50th: An Anniversary Exhibition. Join us in the Smart galleries for the launch of these micro-talks with Dr. Andrei Pop, Allan and Jean Frumkin Professor in the Department of History of Art and Committee on Social Thought.
Presented by the Feitler Center Faculty Advisory Committee.
Andrei Pop is the Allan and Jean Frumkin Professor in the Committee on Social Thought and Chair of the Department of Art History. He has written books on romantic neoclassicism, and on fin-de-siècle art and science, and translated a nineteenth-century philosophy of ugliness, among other things. He will soon be celebrating ten years of teaching with objects in the Smart Museum galleries.
