Family Day: Rice Paper Kites

Woodblock print of kites and flags flying outside of tower

Make—then fly—your own kites in celebration of the final weekend of Meiji Modern at the Smart Museum of Art.

Get inspired by Meiji prints on view, decorate rice paper with stamps and designs, and then assemble a working kite with wooden sticks, string, and Yatsutomo Nori paste.

FREE, drop-in. Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Family programs are best for kids 4–12, but all ages are welcomed! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Family programs are supported by the Harper Court Arts Council.
