Family Day: Making Money

A child places a pink heart on a fundred dollar bill

Drop by for the continuation of our "Create-a-Country" series of Family Days. Dream, vision, and build imaginary countries, designed by kids and inspired by ideas and artworks presented throughout the Smart Museum this spring.

This Saturday, make your own money! Create metal coins and wearable copper currency inspired by ancient Babylonian coil currency. Then, build-a-bill! Design and draw your own dollar bills, paper money to play with and exchange with your friends, and participate in Mel Chin's Fundred project as well.

FREE, drop-in. Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Family programs are best for kids 4–12, but all ages are welcomed! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Family Days at the Smart Museum are designed to celebrate the creative potential in all of us. With new projects every month, Family Days offer opportunities for kids and their caregivers to create together and connect with one another. Each program is unique, fun, and free, emphasizing invention, improvisation, and hands-on creativity.
