Help us imagine a future free of lead poisoning!

This interdisciplinary and participatory workshop brings together scholars, advocates, lawyers, organizers, artists, medical professionals, and others whose work addresses the impact of lead contamination in water, soil, and paint. Although lead poisoning is 100% preventable, it still puts millions of children at risk for lifelong brain damage and other health issues. 

The virtual program features catalyzing micro-talks and other presentations, break-out discussions, art making activities, and performances that uplift the value of human life in the face of this devastating threat. The day’s activities encourage dialogue across sectors to share knowledge, strategies and tactics about this issue, as well as build coalitions that can help us move toward a lead-free future. 

Participants will receive a Fundred Dollar Bill to complete during or after the workshop, which can then be contributed to the Chicago Fundred Initiative: A Bill For IL, a creative campaign that advances public education and community engagement about the environmental and health threat posed by lead poisoning. The Chicago Fundred Initiative is part of Toward Common Cause: Art, Social Change, and the MacArthur Fellows Program at 40 presented by the Smart Museum of Art at the University of Chicago.
