This workshop looks at the history and contemporary practices of making paper and porcelain, both in China and the United States.
The program begins with a tour of the special exhibition The Allure of Matter, with a focus on Liu Jianhua's sculpture Blank Paper and a discussion of pottery, glazing, papermaking, and printing, and the connection between craftspeople, workshops, and industrial production. Then, participants will make clay "paper" tablets and inscribe them with text before walking across campus to the KilnHouse at the Logan Center for the Arts. There, guests will use the kiln to fire their creations.
FREE. Space and materials may be limited. Open to participants of all skill levels. Please register in advance »
