How to Draw in Museums (Part II)

Manet & Mokgosi – Oysters/Butter/Bread

Take a drawing voyage through two Chicago art museums this fall and winter.

In Part II of this series, jump from Edouard Manet’s groundbreaking work into Meleko Mokgosi’s monumental paintings in Meleko Mokgosi: Bread, Butter, and Power, a 20-panel installation exploring themes of feminism in the context of southern Africa. Through sketching exercises and discussion, continue exploring themes of lyricism, history, and contemporary life.

Don't miss Part I...
This is the second in a two-part workshop series happening at the Art Institute of Chicago and Smart Museum of Art this fall and winter. Part I takes place September 5, and features a series of sketching exercises and discussion of the Art Institute’s collection of paintings by Edouard Manet as well as those of his predecessors.

FREE, all materials provided. Open to all skill levels. Space is limited, please register in advance and let us know if you plan to come to one or both sessions.

Presented by the Smart Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago.
