Free and open to the public
Hong-Kong-based artist Samson Young’s exhibition at the Smart Museum draws inspiration from the utopic ideals of Chicago’s 1933 World’s Fair, entitled “A Century of Progress.”
In this panel presented as part of EXPO Chicago’s Symposium: On Utopia, Young is joined by producer and podcast host Avery Trufelman (99% Invisible, Articles of Interest, and Nice Try!) and Orianna Cacchione (Smart Museum Curator of Global Contemporary Art), for a discussion of the exhibition alongside the idealistic themes of the World’s Fair as well as its place in global history years later.
A book signing for the exhibition catalogue will follow the panel discussion.
FREE with admission to EXPO Chicago.
