August 15, 2019
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

This two-part printmaking workshop presented in collaboration with Spudnik Press is inspired by Tara Donovan: Fieldwork and draws on mundane office materials—rubber bands, erasers, staples, paper clips, and more.

FREE. Space may be limited, please register in advance. All materials provided. Open to all skill levels.

PART I

Thursday, August 15, 6–8 pm
Smart Museum of Art
The University of Chicago
5550 S. Greenwood Avenue

Part I features a tour of Tara Donovan: Fieldwork and a in-depth conversation about materiality, modernism, and monolithic sculpture. Following the discussion, Spudnik Press executive director Angee Lennard will lead a hands-on colograph printing and monotype workshop, teaching participants how to use everyday office materials materials to make monoprints.

PART II

Saturday, August 17, 10am–noon
Spudnik Press
1821 W Hubbard St, Suite 302
Chicago, IL 60622

Part II of the program delves further into the printmaking process. Printmaker Angee Lennard will offer a primer on the printmaking process. Then, using the blocks made in the first part of the workshop, participants will make their own prints to take home.
