Please join Jessica Sack, Jan and Frederick Mayer Senior Associate Curator of Public Education at the Yale University Art Gallery, for a series of interactive experiences in the Smart Museum of Art's presentation of Solidary and Solitary.  

Sack has developed unique resources in her career designed to engage diverse audiences with multi-sensory approaches. In this hands-on workshop, she will introduce participants to key activities that foster close looking, multiple forms of learning, and building reflection into your teaching practice.

This workshop is free and open to all, though it will be geared toward gallery educators, classroom teachers, and teaching artists.  A short reception will kick off the event at 5pm. CPDUs available. 

Guest Educator

Jessica Sack is the Jan and Frederick Mayer Senior Associate Curator of Public Education at the Yale University Art Gallery. Since 2004, she has led the development of the Gallery’s school, youth, and family programs as well as resources for teachers and students. She runs the Wurtele Gallery Teacher Program which trains Yale graduate students to teach the K-12 school groups, programs for visitors with special needs, and professional development programs for teachers. Prior to coming to Yale, Jessica was Senior Museum Educator and Coordinator of Teacher Services at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. She has contributed to publications including The Caring Museum: New Models of Engagement with the Ageing, Interpreting the Art Museum,  “Looking to Learn, Learning to Teach” Yale University Art Gallery Bulletin and Picturing a Nation: Teaching with American Art and Material Culture. Jessica received her M.Phil. in Ethnology and Museum Ethnography from Oxford University, England, and a M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University.
