Free and open to the public
Join us in a guided exercise in close looking, community archiving, and object-based research through the Lucien and Muguette Guenneguez Collection, a cornerstone archive of African objects stewarded by artist Theaster Gates and presented as part of African Still Life #3: A Tribute to Patric McCoy and Marva Jolly, Gates' installation for the Threshold series. From 12:30 pm - 1 pm, drop-in fora 30-minute research presentation on select objects from the Guenneguez Collection as our teams actively process this archive for the very first time. This is a drop-in, free program.
In addition to the object presentation, records from the Dinh Nguyen Collection will be played for the remainder of Smart’s open hours (10am - 4:30pm) Fridays and Saturdays by members of the Rebuild Foundation team.
