Family Day: You are a Work of Art

March 1, 2025
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

In celebration of Women’s History Month, explore works made by women artists featured in The 50th, including Anna Lea Merritt, Faith Ringgold, Barbara Rossi, and Suzanne Valadon. Drawing inspiration from each artist’s individual style of portraiture, create your own expressive self-portrait that highlights the unique features and facets that make you, YOU! Drop in; all families and kids of all ages are welcome. RSVP online.

In addition to our ever-popular artmaking activities, this Family Day will also feature a special Storytime in the galleries from 1-3 PM. Curated by storyteller Carmenita Peoples and co-sponsored by the UChicago Library, the selected stories highlight tales of strong, trailblazing women and encourage young minds to embrace their unique identities. Storytime performances will begin at 1:15 PM and 2:15 PM, but families are welcome to flow in and out of the space throughout each 45-minute performance.

Spend your day on campus and head over to the UChicago Library (1100 E. 57th St.) to view their current exhibition, A Pressing Call: 500 Years of Women Printingwhich explores the deep history of women printers.
