Tour & Artmaking: Color Fields

with Guest Artist Mayra Palafox

Join artist and educator Mayra Palafox for a strange and wonderful journey of color and light through the Smart Museum. 

Take a tour of our current exhibitions Tara Donovan: Fieldwork and Cross Currents/Intercambio Cultural and then make your own art using brightly colored transclucent Mylar and other materials. 

FREE, open to all. All materials provided. Open to all skill levels. 


About the artist

Mayra C. Palafox is an alumna from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the Fiber and Material Studies program. She is an arts administrator and educator. She has worked in museum education in Chicago, New York and Berkeley. She is interested in the intersection of art and science. She focuses on how sensory and inquiry based learning can bring art making to focus on process and material exploration.
