Join Classicisms co-curator Larry Norman for the talk “Fauvel, between Classicism and Romanticism.” The in-gallery talk will uncover how romantic and neo-classical ideas interact within Louis Dupré’s 1819 painting Portrait of M. Fauvel, the French Consul, with View of the Acropolis.
Norman is the Frank L. Sulzberger Professor, Romance Languages and Literatures, Theater and Performance Studies, Fundamentals, and the College at the University of Chicago.
Free, but space is very limited. Advance registration is required.
This event is part of a series of gallery talks and lectures related to the special exhibition Classicisms. The series features Salvatore Settis (March 30), Jas' Elsner (April 6), Elisabeth Décultot (May 31), and Larry Norman (June 1).
