Make Your Mark on the Smart

The Smart Museum of Art is a vibrant site for reflection, discovery, and dialogue. We work every day to open the world through art and ideas, and, with your help, we can ensure this mission remains alive and well.

The Museum’s SmartPartners provide crucial support at all levels, making an indelible impact on the Smart’s most important programs and initiatives, including insightful exhibitions, comprehensive faculty and student engagement, free educational experiences for children and families from surrounding communities, and content that amplifies and augments our exhibition programming. SmartPartners receive unique and select opportunities to engage with the Museum, including behind-the-scenes programming, special art-related events, gallery and studio tours, and opportunities to hear from Smart curators and other Museum and faculty leadership.

In recognition for all the SmartPartners make possible, we offer the following giving levels and corresponding benefits.

Partner level

Campus Partners

$50–$149/$35*

• Advance notice of programming and events
• 10% discount on Smart publications
• At the Smart publication
• Invitations to SmartPartner exhibition previews

*$35 is a special rate for University of Chicago faculty and staff. Students who sign up for the Arts Pass program at the front desk can join SmartPartners for free.

Patron Partners

$150–$249

• All of the benefits listed above
• Reciprocal membership at more than 700 museums nationwide

Benefactor Partners

$250–$499

• All of the benefits listed above
• Invitation to one SmartPartner curatorial tour per year—exclusively for members

Impact Partners

$500–999

• All of the benefits listed above
• Invitations to three SmartPartner curatorial tours per year—exclusively for members
• Invitations to Smart Museum receptions and events at international art fairs

Circle Level

SmartPartners at the Circle level receive a closer level of engagement with the art and programs at the Smart, including additional special event invitations, opportunities to connect with curators, and chances to travel with the Smart.

Curator’s Circle

$1,000–2,499

• All of the benefits listed above
• Invitations to Curator Conversations—intimate special events, talks, and studio visits with Smart Museum curators
• Private curator-led viewings of recent acquisitions to the Smart collection

Collector’s Circle

$2,500–4,999

• All of the benefits listed above, plus membership in the University of Chicago’s Chicago Society
• Invitations to Smart Salons—intimate special events featuring Chicago-area private collection viewings
• Opportunities to travel with Smart curators on domestic U.S. trips and tours
