Sculpting Infinity: Antony Gormley and the Mindful Object
Professor W.J.T. Mitchell will reflect on Infinite Cube (2014), a captivating sculpture comprised of a seemingly endless grid of light in the Smart Museum’s collection. Mitchell will discuss the sculpture’s origin, which was inspired by a concept developed by his late son Gabriel and realized by artist Antony Gormley.
After the talk, join Mitchell for a special viewing of the sculpture and a reception celebrating the release of two new books from the University of Chicago Press: Antony Gormley on Sculpture and Mitchell’s Image Science.
