Tour and Book Discussion: The Best We Could Do

A tour and discussion of Thi Bui’s The Best We Could Do presented in collaboration with the UChicago Common Book Initiative

Join exhibition curator Issa Lampe for a tour of Smart to the Core: Embodying the Self, which brings together modern and contemporary artists who explore the visual construction of selfhood across a range of gender, sexual, racial, ethnic, and intersectional identities.

The tour will highlight ideas that resonate with Thi Bui’s The Best We Could Do. Following the tour, explore these themes further during a facilitated Common Book discussion over lunch.

FREE, but please register in advance

About the Common Book Initiative

Presented by the Office of the Provost and the Center for Identity + Inclusion, the UChicago Common Book Initiative strives to enhance campus climate and build community through a shared experience, bringing together undergraduate students, graduate/professional students, faculty, staff, alumni and local community members to read the same book and engage in dialogues across campus. Common Book Discussions are open to all UChicago community members and run through the end of spring quarter.
