The Smart Museum of Art is located at 5550 S. Greenwood Avenue on the north edge of the University of Chicago’s campus in the lovely and historic Hyde Park. We are located 7.5 miles south of the Loop, and easily accessible by car or by public transit.
When planning your visit, be sure to check out all the great art and culture that Hyde Park has to offer.
Exit at 57th Street and turn right at the first stoplight on to Hyde Park Boulevard. Turn left at 55th Street and travel 1 mile west to Greenwood Avenue. Turn left on Greenwood. The Smart is on the right in the center of the block.
Exit at Garfield Boulevard, and travel east through Washington Park, bearing left on Rainey Drive. At the stop sign, turn right onto 55th Street. Go east on 55th Street until you reach Greenwood Avenue. Turn right on Greenwood. The Smart Museum is on the right in the center of the block.
Parking is available one block from the Smart Museum, in the University's parking garage located on 55th Street, between Greenwood and Ellis Avenues. Complimentary evening and weekend parking is offered to Smart Partners.
There is also metered visitor and handicapped parking spaces available in the Young lot (just to the west of the Smart) and in the nearby Pierce lot.

A 15-minute loading zone space for group drop-off is available at the Smart's entrance on Greenwood Avenue.
Take the Red or Green Line to Garfield Boulevard. Exit and transfer to the eastbound #55 Garfield bus. Exit the bus at Ellis Avenue and walk one block east to Greenwood Avenue. Turn right and walk south on Greenwood. The Smart is on the right in the center of the block.
Take the #6 Jackson Park Express bus to 55th Street. Transfer to the westbound #55 Garfield bus. Exit bus at Ellis Avenue, cross to the south side of 55th Street, and walk one block east to Greenwood Avenue. Turn right and walk south on Greenwood. The Smart is on the right in the center of the block.

Take the Metra Electric District to the 55th-56th-57th Street station. Walk eight blocks west on 56th Street to Greenwood Avenue (or walk north to 55th Street and catch the westbound #55 Garfield bus, following the directions above). Turn right and walk north half a block. The Smart is on the left in the center of the block.
The Smart Museum is only a short ride from the Lakefront Trail and Hyde Park has a network of recommended bike routes. Visit the City of Chicago's website for the Chicago Bike Map and other bike-related resources.
