Directions & Map
The Smart Museum of Art is located at 5550 S. Greenwood Avenue on the north edge of the University of Chicago's campus in the lovely and historic Hyde Park neighborhood. We are about 20 minutes south of the Loop by car, and easily accessible by public transportation.

By Car
Via Lake Shore Drive
Exit 53rd Street, and turn left on Hyde Park Boulevard. Turn right on 55th Street
and continue west to Greenwood Avenue. Turn left. The Museum is on the right
in the center of the block.
Via The Dan Ryan Expressway (90/94)
Exit at Garfield Boulevard (55th Street), and travel east through Washington
Park following the signs for 55th Street. Go east on 55th Street until you reach Greenwood
Avenue. Turn right. The Museum is on the right in the center of the block.
Parking
Parking is available one block from the Museum, in the University's parking garage located on the south side of 55th Street, between Greenwood and Ellis Avenues. The garage is free after 4 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
There is also metered visitor and handicapped parking spaces available in the Pierce Towers lot (on the corner of 55th Street and Greenwood Avenue) and in the University Police Department lot (on Ellis Avenue between 55th and 56th Streets).

A 15-minute loading zone space for group drop-off is available at the Museum's entrance on Greenwood Avenue.
By Public Transportation (CTA)
Red or Green Line to Garfield Boulevard
Take the Red or Green Line to Garfield Boulevard. Exit and transfer to either the eastbound #55 Garfield or #55X Garfield Express bus. Exit bus at Ellis Avenue and walk one block east to Greenwood Avenue. Turn right and walk south on Greenwood. The Museum is on the right in the center of the block.
Jackson Park Express to 55th Street
Take the #6 Jackson Park Express bus to 55th Street. Transfer to the westbound #55 Garfield or #55X Garfield Express bus. Exit bus at Ellis Avenue, cross to the south side of 55th Street, and walk one block east to Greenwood Avenue. Turn right and walk south on Greenwood. The Museum is on the right in the center of the block.

By Bicycle
The Smart Museum is only a short ride from the Lakefront Trail and Hyde Park has a network of recommended bike routes. Visit the City of Chicago's website for the Chicago Bike Map and other bike-related resources.
