10 January–25 February 1979
Frank Lloyd Wright decorated the Frederick C. Robie House in Hyde Park to match his architectural plans. His aesthetic interests in the design and arrangement of architectural ornament, furniture, windows, and decorative accessories are the subject of the Smart Museum exhibition. The objects span the breadth of his career, which lasted from the late 19th century, when he began his architectural practice, until his death in 1959. Pieces of furniture and decoration from the Robie House, now owned and operated by the University, were on display. Events connected to the exhibition included a lecture by Vincent Scully, Professor of Art History at Yale University, a tour of several Hyde Park Wright Houses, as well as a symposium on Wright that included talks by major architectural historians.

The exhibition was sponsored by the Chicago Architectural Foundation and the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation.
