Artists of the Committee on Art and Design

8 March–9 April 1978

Seven faculty members from the University of Chicago’s Committee on Art and Design, including Kanani Bell, Vera Klement, Thomas Mapp, Robert Peters, Richard Shiff, Joel Snyder, and Laura Volkerding presented their own work in an exhibition at the Smart Museum. The Committee was formed in 1974 to encourage interdisciplinary study in the departments of English, Art, and Philosophy.

Curator: Katharine L. Keefe, Curator of Collections at the Smart, and Thomas Mapp, Director of Midway Studios. 

Funding was provided by the Harold T. Martin Fund and the Woods Charitable Trust.
