Alumni Who Collect II: Sculpture from 1600 to the Present

18 April–16 June 1985

The exhibition, the second in a series featuring alumni collections, celebrates the impressive commitment and contribution to the visual arts made by the University of Chicago and its graduates. Approximately 30 sculptures by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joseph Cornell, Edgar Degas, Auguste Rodin, Aristide Maillol, Joan Miró, and Alberto Giacometti will be included. This exhibition provides a glimpse of the individual collectors’ distinct and personal responses to the tradition of Western European and American sculpture from the late Renaissance to the present day. Among those alumni whose collections are represented in the exhibition are Joseph Shapiro, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bergman, and Dennis Adrian.
