SmartPartner+ Preview: Monster Roster

Nearly 60 years ago, a group of Chicago “monsters” were introduced to the world. These artists, spearheaded by Leon Golub, created darkly figurative work and boldly established the first unique Chicago style of art.

Our SmartPartner+ supporters and other special guests are invited to join us for a celebration of the work of these sixteen artists and the premiere of Monster Roster: Existentialist Art in Postwar Chicago, the first major museum exhibition to examine the history and impact of the group.

The invitation-only preview event will feature live improvised music from the Josh Berman Trio and a short video on the Monster Roster by Steve Rosofsky, son of artist Seymour Rosofsky, as well as handcrafted cocktails designed for the occasion and food with a Monster twist.

The public opening reception follows, beginning at 7:30 pm.

By invitation only. To RSVP or for more information on becoming a SmartPartner+, contact smartRSVP@uchicago.edu or 773.702.2368.
