2. Write an essay

Based on your knowledge of the play and the particular text on which the scene you chose is based on, write an essay responding to the following:

In your opinion, is this an accurate representation of the scene and of the play itself? Why or why not? Please support your response with careful observations of the image and specific passages from the play.

To answer these questions, you might think about the following:
  • Specifically, what did the artist include in this illustration of the scene?
  • What did the artist chose to leave out of?
  • Is there anything that the artist included that Shakespeare did not detail in the text?
  • What do you think was most important idea or emotion Shakespeare was trying to convey in this scene?
  • What was the most important thing the artist chose to convey?
Make sure to clearly identify the image you selected in your essay.
